2019/20 Outlaws Newsletter
Welcome everyone to the 2019/20 badminton season.
2019/20 is a pivotal season for the Notts Outlaws as we strive for long term financial viability – after two loss making years. As a result, your committee have had to make a number of changes to the structure which will affect a number of players and parents.
Committee
Your committee are detailed below – as ever we need new recruits to help us run the club and with Mark Attewell announcing he will be stepping down as treasurer at the end of the year, we will need a new treasurer – the most important role on the committee.
If you would like to volunteer within the academy in any way, then please have a chat with any member of the committee. The date of the next meeting is Sunday 08 September, 7.00 p.m. at the Royal Oak, East Bridgford and all would be welcome.

Coaching Team
Neil continues to lead our coaching team – ably assisted by Peter, Matt and Mick. As a result of the changes in cells, we lose the services of James and Kerri and I would like to place on record here our thanks for the commitment and energy they have brought to the Outlaws – we hope we can keep in touch.

If anyone is interested in supporting our lead coaches at cells, please get in touch with Neil. There are funds available, from external sources, for anyone wishing to take their coaching badges.
Academy Cells
To make it easier for parents to know when cells are operating, we will exactly mirror the Notts County Council holiday timetable with no cells operating in the school holiday weeks with the exception of the summer holiday where we will close for two of the five weeks. Please check the calendar on the Outlaws website

County Teams
For the 2019/20 season, Notts have entered teams in the Under 12s, 14s, 16s, 18s and 20s age groups of the Shires League. Notts have also entered teams in the Primary, U13, U15 and U17 midway tournaments. Notts will also be competing in the RIO tournament at York in January, the ICT tournament in April as well as team events ran at York during next spring.
More information on the Shires League and fixtures is available at the website below.
Last season was successful reaching the U14 shires finals for the second season on the run following from not reaching this stage for many years. Notts finished 18th in the ICT tournament. To make this season even more successful, we need to ensure we have as many players to select from. See table below as a guide to help you identify which age groups you would fit into.
Age group clarification
During September, county trials will take place starting on Tuesday 3rd September at 6:15 for the U12 and U14 age groups and 7:45 for U16 and U18 age groups. Would be great to see as many of you there as possible.
Tournaments
As every year, all Outlaws players are expected to enter the County Championships (formerly known as the Notts restricted) taking place on 21/22 September (Finals on 29 September). Players are also expected to enter BADMINTON England age group tournaments and
Nottingham will be hosting 10 junior tournaments this year spanning all age groups. For information on these please see the Badminton England website : https://be.tournamentsoftware.com or speak to any of the committee members.
Fundraising
Vic Clarke has kindly offered to be our star fund raiser this year so please get involve so we can keep our costs to a minimum – starting with a 100 Club - news of which will follow shortly. If you have any suggestions for fundraising or have any leads on potential sponsorship opportunities, then please have a chat with Vic.
Finally – all that remains is for me to thank all players and parents for their support to the Outlaws and we wish every player a wonderful season!
Play hard, play fair and play with a smile on your face J
